We are so looking forward to this weekend’s concert!
Please note that the Adelaide 500 is happening this weekend, so be prepared for road closures and traffic during drop off and when parking for the concert.
In late 2021 YAV choirs and the ASO came together and recorded the music from Kobi Yamada’s book What Do You Do With An Idea?
We are so happy to announce the album is out! Here it is!

Hello all,
Thank you for your efforts in the new venue last week. We realise that this would’ve been quite the change and challenge for you, however we appreciate your efforts.
That being said, we definitely felt an air of fatigue in the room – both mentally and vocally. Completely understand it’s a busy period at the end of the school year, with lots of extra commitments, but we also know you can definitely perform leagues better than last night (just one example being Adelaide Sings). If you are feeling this way, know that we understand (and can relate!!) But also we have to perform at our highest level this coming Sunday. We know you can, but if you’re feeling drained (vocally or mentally), this would be a great chance to practice what Nikolai discussed in rehearsal: Fake It Til You Make It! Fake Confidence! Fake Energy!
Aidan and Nikolai have both experienced this in their performance and external careers, and the notion of finding that inner strength to maintain diligence and concentration through rehearsals is a lifelong skill that does benefit you down the track. Know that we are here to support you in your musical journey and provide you with the strength to continue singing at that higher standard.
Final rehearsal is this Thursday (6pm-8:30pm). Please note that we will run: Bringers of Noise, Away in a Manger and Rise in Song FROM MEMORY. Please spend SUBSTANTIAL time on your words (as we are combining with 2CC and 1CC this week).
Homework: You will notice no extra Homework blog this week. Your goal is refresh yourselves over past weeks homework blog and go over any personal areas you are struggling with (memory, individual parts). You know where your struggles are, do not be a passenger. This train doesn’t allow passengers.
See you on Thursday back at Kent Town!
Aidan and Nikolai.
Hi all,
We have a number of 1CC/YAV people who are covid positive in this next wave that has affected South Australia.
Can we please reiterate the following so we can get to both our Combined Choirs concert on Sunday 4 December:
We will be going back to social distancing, and we ask that you do not hug or have close contact with your friends, as sad as that will be.
Thanks, Christie and team
Hi all,
Tonight 2CC and MVG will be rehearsing at Burnside City Uniting Church (BCUC).
1CC and Aurora will be across the road at Burnside Town Hall.
Stephanie Eaton (YAV Community Outreach hero, musicianship tutor, and community choir leader!) will be hosting tours through BCUC at these times:
There will be tea, coffee, and hot chocolate offered as a welcome in the church foyer between 5–7, so 1CC families might want to pop in earlier pre-tour.
Juniors and Intermediate families are welcome to attend any tour to hear about YAV’s proposed move to BCUC in 2023. Exciting!
There is plenty of parking available at BCUC and across the road at the Burnside City Council’s space.

Hey MVG!
Really appreciate all your hard work over the last couple weeks as Aidan, Leonie, and I have been jumping around between conducting, accompanying, and assessing. I was also very grateful for all your effort in polishing and workshopping the pieces this last Thursday, despite it being a slightly different style of rehearsal from the piano.
Bravo on completing your assessments too! You’ve all done very admirably (even pushing through the tricky exercises Aidan and I crafted for you). It was a beautiful way to hear your voices individually and gain some perspective on how your voice is travelling.
Please note that for the next 2 rehearsals- we will be running from 6:00pm-8:30pm.
Please see the document below for homework content.
See you on Thursday!
Nikolai and Aidan
